JOB hunters and career changers have been finding out about hundreds of vacancies at the Daily Echo Job Fair.

The event, at Bournemouth’s Pavilion, runs until 3pm on Thursday, September 22, offering people the chance to meet 30 leading employers.

Those employers include some of the best-known names in Dorset and the UK.

Headline sponsor 4Com now employs more than 500 people and is looking to fill 60 vacancies.

Callum Broe, head of recruitment, said soon after the Job Fair began: “We’ve had a few good conversations already.

“We’re a pretty large employer within Bournemouth and it’s great to support the Bournemouth Echo in putting on this event.”

The jobs on offer at 4Com include roles in customer service, support, sales and administration, with some jobs based at the company's HQ and others in the field across the country.

 

Bournemouth Echo:

The Poole vehicle recycler Charles Trent was recruiting for a host of roles, including maintenance engineers earning £35,000-£40,000 and a compliance and risk manager earning up to £50,000.

Angela Piromalli, head of recruitment, said the company currently employs around 200 people and recruited 33 in August. It recently began an apprenticeship programme.

The Dorset disability charity Diverse Abilities was looking for staff including carers, support staff, team leaders and volunteers.

Michelle Turner of Diverse Abilities said: “We are there to help people fulfil their lives as much as possible.”

Amy Upshall added: “There isn’t another job that compares to being able to help someone live their life.”

George Atkins and Li Tomlinson of Poole manufacturer Lush were telling people about vacancies in the company’s factories, with jobs available on day shifts, twilight shifts, night shifts and weekends.

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care is looking for people in its clinical team – including physiotherapists and occupational therapists – as well as staff for retail roles, including a shop manager and an e-commerce manager. The charity is expanding and is also opening a new shop in Winton.

Debbie Tallick-Wyatt, clinical team manager, said: “We’re expanding our team hugely.”

Bournemouth Echo:

NatWest is recruiting for a range of vacancies, in branch banking and in business banking, with a host of flexible roles as well as the traditional ones.

Ali Hill, the bank's agricultural manager for Dorset, said: “We’re keen to attract new talent into the bank. Like everybody we’re a lot more flexible now. It’s not a 9-5 job any more.”
