A POOLE schoolboy who tragically died of cancer this year has been immortalised as a character in a popular card game.

Jack and Rachel Constantine, co-founders of Realm Runner Studios in Poole, lost their seven-year-old son Dexter to childhood cancer rhabdomyosarcoma on July 27.

In memory of brave Dexter, who attended Longfleet Primary School, Realm Runner Studios have created a new heroic character in their fantasy card game Achroma.

Dexter’s character, Master of Dragons, has been rendered by artist Matt Vince and is seen soaring with Crackle and King Boomer – his two much loved soft toy companions.

His father Jack said: “We are absolutely devastated to lose such a loving soul that had a lust for life and fought to the very end. He played Achroma a lot, and enjoyed beating his best friend Herbie, especially with his very own Dexter card that we managed to get printed before he died.”

Fans of the card game can join Dexter’s family and friends at a charity event being held in his honour on Sunday, September 25.

The free event is being held at Entoyment Wargaming and Hobby Centre in Poole, with free game cards, the opportunity to learn to play Achroma, and a raffle for children’s cancer charity Alice’s Arc.

Dexter’s family hope to both increase awareness of rhabdomyosarcoma and raise money for Alice’s Arc, who were vital in supporting Dexter and his family through his illness.

“We’re so pleased to able to raise funds for a children’s cancer charity doing something Dexter loved – playing games,” Jack added.

“The team at Entoyment have helped us put together a day filled with fun and fundraising, along with some amazing prizes up for grabs.”

Dexter Master of Dragons is the first Realm Runner card to be released for Achroma, a physical fantasy card game for all ages.

Dexter is also the grandson of Mark Constantine, the founder of Poole cosmetics retailer Lush. In tribute, Lush will be selling a limited edition ‘Dexter’s Dragon Egg’ bath bomb which is available online and in all Lush UK stores.

All proceeds from the sale of the special limited-edition card and bath bomb will go to Dexter's Arc - a fundraising platform created with the support of registered charity Alice’s Arc. Funds raised through Dexter’s Arc will go towards non-animal testing research into rhabdomyosarcoma.
