ALMOST 2,000 properties were without power in parts of Bournemouth and Poole on Monday afternoon.

The outage affected parts of Westbourne and surrounding areas including Branksome and Alum Chine.

SSEN was made aware of a fault on the distribution network at 1.54pm.

The company said it is affected a total of 1,911 customers. 

Engineers were sent to the site to investigate the cause of the fault.

A spokesperson for SSEN said:  “We would like to apologise to our customers who are experiencing a loss of power this afternoon, and thank them for their patience while our engineers work to restore power as quickly and as safely as possible.”

In an update around 4.50pm, SSEN said power is being restored to customers in stages, with the vast majority of those affected restored by 4.26pm.

Around 125 customers remain without supply however engineers are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible, with teams still expecting to restore all remaining customers by 5pm.
