EMERGENCY services have tackled a crop fire at a farm in Wimborne St Giles.
Fire crews from Cranborne and Verwood attended a small fire at a farm in Wimborne St Giles on Thursday evening.
On arrival, the crews found that the farmers had managed to mostly contain the fire using farm equipment.
Firefighters worked to extinguish hot spots, and then emptied and cooled the combine harvester as a precaution.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: “We were called to a farm field at Wimborne St Giles at 6.57pm last night for a small fire involving cut and standing crops.
"Crews from Cranborne and Verwood attended, together with a small 4x4 appliance from Cranborne. The stop was at 7.47pm, two hose reel jets were used and the combine harvester was emptied and cooled as a precaution."
