FLOWERS have placed along the A35 in tribute to a motorcyclist who died on Tuesday evening following a crash with a car. 

Bright yellow sunflowers were laid at the side of the road for the 34-year-old woman who died in a collision involving a green Kawasaki motorcycle and a black Audi TT at Woodbury Cross. 

Police, fire and ambulance crews were all called to reports of the two-vehicle collision. 

The woman, from Wiltshire, died at the scene of the incident which happened shortly before 8pm on Tuesday, August 9. The driver of the Audi was not injured.

South Western Ambulance Service sent two operations officers, two doctors, an air ambulance and two double-crewed land ambulances to the incident. 

The road was closed at Sugar Hill junction, between Bloxworth and Bere Regis, while collision investigators examined the scene. 

Firefighters from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and told residents to “avoid the area for a number of hours” whilst they dealt with the incident.  

A spokesperson said: “We were called to Lower Woodbury at 8.07pm last night following a road traffic collision, with two crews attending to support the police and ambulance service – these were mobilised from Bere Regis and Wareham.

Dorset Police has opened an investigation into the circumstances of the crash and are appealing for witnesses. 

Sergeant Mark Scammell, of the traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman at this very difficult time. 

“An investigation into the circumstances of the collision is underway and I am appealing to anyone who was travelling along the A35 at the time and either witnessed the collision or captured anything of relevance on dashcam to please contact Dorset Police. 

“I would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding during the road closures while emergency services responded to the incident, and we investigated the scene.”
