A BOURNEMOUTH fire station will be holding its first open day in more than 10 years this weekend.
Firefighters at Westbourne will be welcoming members of the community to the station in Alumhurst Road between 10am and 3pm on Sunday, August 14.
A spokesperson for Westbourne Fire Station said: “We are delighted to be able to welcome our community back onto the fire station and would like to invite everyone to come along and spend some time to meet our firefighters, have a look around the station, fire appliances and give us the opportunity to offer you some home and fire safety advice.”
There will be demonstrations by firefighters using the chip pan unit and aerial ladder platform and also from the technical rescue team.
Visitors will also be able to see specialist vehicles like the Unimog and meet officers from Dorset Police.
All visitors are being invited to take a bag of clothing jumble for the Firefighter’s Charity collection, but no bric-a-brac, plastic, toys or electrical items.
