DOG lovers have enjoyed a mingle with furry friends as a Dachshund Cafe popped up in Bournemouth this weekend.

The Pup Up Cafe returned to Revolution bar on Sunday, with dozens of sausage dogs arriving with their owners shortly after 10am.

Visitors talked amongst each other whilst the dogs enjoyed two hours of toys, treats and non-stop play.

The event, which travels around the UK with its pop-up pet cafes, was launched by Marcus Akford in 2018.

His fiancé, Jess, was on hand at the Bournemouth event to welcome the four legged friends. She said: “It’s amazing, and it’s really really really busy.

"We love coming to Bournemouth, the venue is huge which is great, and we have a quiet area for the nervy dogs.

"We’re really happy with the turn out and everyone seems happy."

The sausage dogs were able to play amongst toys, ball pits and tunnels, and were welcome to unlimited treats and puppuccinos all morning.

Jess added: "There are so many little legs running around. The serotonin levels are so high."

Prizes were also given out for the best dressed, with many pups seen arriving in bow ties, fancy jackets, and party hats. Some owners even showed off their dogs’ outfits by taking them to the onsite photobooth for a photoshoot.

One owner said: “It’s really nice because our two dogs don’t usually get involved in things like that.

“It’s nice to see, and I haven’t stopped smiling since I got through the door.”

Jess also ran a Pup Up Cafe trade stand at the event, with plenty of dog related products for visiting owners to browse whilst their pets played.

Speaking ahead of the event, founder Marcus Akford said: “We can't wait to be back in Bournemouth. We used to visit once a year but had a few struggles with venues last year so we didn't make it, but we're back on Sunday.

“We usually have over 100 dachshunds visit us in Bournemouth for all the Pup Up Cafe fun including unlimited treats and puppuccinos, loads of photo ops and tons of sausage filled fun. We're super excited to see all of the old sausages and plenty of new faces too.”
