ORGANISERS of Christchurch’s popular annual smooth-jazz festival say they were delighted with the "fantastic" turnout of this year’s event.

On Saturday, August 6, thousands of people attended the Stompin' on The Quomps music festival at Christchurch Quay.

Last year the event happened in September because of covid restrictions, the year before the event was cancelled. Organisers have said: "it’s good to be back again".

Stompin’ chair, Eliot Walker said: "We are delighted that the whole community has showed up to support our event, the turnout is fantastic.

"Today I have seen lots of happy smiley faces from people of all ages, everyone has come together and are enjoying a fantastic day in the sunshine.

"We had so many comments from people saying it was a lovely event and they really enjoyed it. We’re very pleased.

"We also have some superb local food stalls and fairground rides for the kids.

Bournemouth Echo:

"It’s great to have live jazz music on the band stand once again and hopefully we will be back again next year on the first Saturday of August for the same.

"We’re really grateful to our sponsor Biz Space.

"If anyone wants to get involved in the event next year we are always looking for volunteers."

The Sara Harris, The Triple H Horns, and Taverners Big Band were the festival's headliners among the six bands who performed.

One local family from Christchurch shared their "love" for the "fantastic festival".

Alison said: "We come to this festival nearly every year, its on our doorstep and its a great family day out. We dont usually listen to jazz music so its nice to come here for something a bit different.

Stompin’ on the Quomps is non-ticketed volunteer-led event, although the audience are invited to make a donation.

The event took place from midday to 10pm.
