OFFICERS are appealing for witnesses after a woman suffered an eye injury after a man reportedly threw a set of car keys at her.

It was reported that between 3pm and 5pm on Thursday, June 16, a man assaulted a woman outside Sainsbury’s in South Street by throwing a set of car keys at her through an open car window, causing an injury to her eye, say police.

Following enquiries, a 30-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and released on police bail.

Police Constable Liam Moss, of Dorset County CID, said: “I appreciate this incident was some time ago but from our enquiries we understand there were a number of people in the area at the time, including members of the public who came to the aid of the victim.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and would also ask anyone who was in the area and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything that might assist our investigation.”
