AN independent shop that has been described as “the perfect man cave”- Visual Vibes is Trader of the Week.
Found in Lymington, Visual Vibes provides a movie rental service, as well as the sale of American candy, vape supplies and craft beer.
The shop was opened in 1996 by Bournemouth resident Darren Baker and welcomed a second owner Terry Muller in the years that followed.
It began as a VHS movie rental shop, competing with the likes of Blockbuster Video, but by adding American confectionary, sodas and snacks, the shop became a popular retail destination in the area.
Terry said: “Customers often say, ‘you’ve got it all in here’ and ‘it’s like a perfect man cave- movies, vape, beer and snacks all in one place’.”
With times changing, Visual Vibes began to rent out DVDs and Blu-Ray Discs, slowly phasing out the VHS tapes.
Terry said: “Both Darren and I share a love of movies and still enjoy chatting about films we’ve watched together and with friends and customers.

“Since the movie rental aspect of the business set the foundation for a rare 25-year lifespan of an independent shop, it holds a place in both of our hearts. We still have customers who regularly rent movies from us, and new members are still joining."
The pair then introduced vaping supplies in 2013, and in more recent years Hampshire and Dorset Craft Beers, after being granted a premises license by the New Forest District Council.
Visual Vibes has also celebrated an important landmark this year, with Darren having launched the business 25 years ago.
Terry said: “Working in Visual Vibes is like hanging out and having a laugh with your mates every day. There’s always good banter to be had.

Visual Vibes is located at 36 Milford Rd in Lymington.
