AFTER three years with next to no socialising, the creative, digital and tech industries had the chance to get together again.

The first Speak Easy, a new event for the sectors in the BCP Council area, was held at the Hacienda Bar of Bournemouth’s Ojo Rojo.

Anthony Story, director at sector support group Silicon South, said: “After too many conversations surrounding the lack of opportunities to get together, Silicon South pulled together an amazing group of people who all shared the same goal – putting on an easygoing, inclusive event for the industry that gets people together.

“Just a few months later, Speak Easy was created, and it was a breath of fresh air after the last few years."

Becky Willis, new business director at Just After Midnight, said: “It was fantastic to see so many faces – both old and new – show up. We were thrilled with the turnout, and the general feedback was that everyone has really missed getting together. We can’t wait until September to do it all over again.”

Speak Easy was created for industry veterans and newcomers to come together. The next event is being planned for September.

Cat Gold, client relationship manager at Uprated, said: “It was particularly awesome to meet all the new faces who have stepped into the industry during the pandemic and show them that there are plenty of friendly individuals around ready to give them a very warm welcome.”
