ONE person has sustained a serious leg injury after a car overturned on the A31 in the New Forest.

Police were called to the crash near Stoney Cross at 1pm on Wednesday, July 6. 

The vehicle has now been recovered but delays of an hour are being reported from Picket Post.

Following the crash, one lane was blocked on the eastbound carriageway.

A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 1pm to a report of a single vehicle collision on the A31 near Stoney Cross, in which a car had overturned.

"Officers attended, one person has reported a serious injury to their leg. The vehicle has been recovered."

Three police vehicles attended, together with fire crews from Ringwood, and Springbourne.

A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 1pm to a car that had gone off the highway into a ditch, on arrival firefighters found the male driver had got himself out of the vehicle, so they provided casualty care until he could be handed into the care of the ambulance service.

"The stop was at 2.08pm."
