A BUMPER weekend of events is just around the corner.

The weather is looking lovely, too, but if you don’t fancy the beach there’s lots of other stuff going on.

Here’s a guide to what’s happening where and when.

1. Swanage Jazz Festival is set to return this weekend after a two-year absence due to the pandemic. Running between Friday and Sunday, the event will see 40 acts perform across a host of venues in Swanage. Tickets are £98 for a weekend stroller and £65 for a day stroller ticket. For tickets and full line-up visit swanagejazzfestival.co.uk

2. Bournemouth’s annual Pride celebration, Bourne Free, is back bigger and better than ever this weekend. The event will be turning to its former home at Meyrick Park after a 17-year hiatus. Friday evening will see a Family Fun Night take place between 5pm and 9pm with the parade starting at 11am in the Triangle on Saturday. This year’s theme is ‘Pride goes green’.

3. Vintage fans can celebrate all things retro on Poole Quay on Sunday when Poole Goes Vintage returns. Between 11am and 7pm on Saturday and Sunday, there will be the chance to celebrate music, fashion, memorabilia, entertainment, transport and more from the 1940s to 60s.

4. Whacky races return to Ringwood this weekend with the British Pedal Car Grand Prix on Sunday. The event, which attracts thousands of spectators and sees pedal car teams race around the town, takes place at 3pm.

5. There will be beach polo and live music on Sandbanks this weekend. Now in its 15th year, the British Beach Polo Championships – otherwise known as Sandpolo – will feature beach polo by day and parties by night. Then on Sunday, there will be live music from the likes of Clean Bandit on Sunday at Sandfest. Other acts included in the line-up include Jax Jones, Shy FX, Tom Zanetti and Wes Nelson.

7. Swimmers will be taking to the sea for the Bournemouth Pier to Pier swim on Saturday and Sunday. The popular event raises money for the British Heart Foundation. Registration is now closed.
