TEMPORARY traffic lights that brought "traffic misery" over the weekend are causing lengthy tailbacks on Portland this morning.
There are reports of congestion and queuing traffic for up to two miles on the A354 Portland Road Northbound from Lerret Road (Castletown) to Ferrymans Way (Wyke Regis). Travel time is approximately 15 minutes.
The lights were installed whilst urgent repair work was being carried out over the weekend. Whilst the work has now been completed, the lights will remain in place until the end of today in order to allow for the road to be reinstated.
A spokesman for Travel Dorset said: "SSEN has completed repairs on the Portland mains cable following works over the weekend/night. Reinstatement is required before the road can be returned to normal - expected by end of the day on Tuesday.
"We have liaised with SSEN and their traffic management contractors to address the disruption due to the temporary traffic lights and give the correct priority at relevant times of the day.
"We're sorry for the inconvenience this may cause to your journey."
