Police are investigating after an attempt to steal an ATM machine from outside a Co-op in Poole.

Police were called to the Ringwood Road store at 12.41am on Monday where an ATM appeared to have been removed from the wall. 

Officers and forensics attended the scene, and a police cordon remained in place until shortly before 11am. 

Two boys have been arrested following the incident.

Dorset Police also received a call from the Skate Fish and Chip Shop on Ringwood Road, reporting that a window had been smashed, entry gained and a charity box stolen.

On arrival, officers became aware of several damaged vehicles between the two shops.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 12.41am on Monday 4 July 2022 to reports of alarms sounding at the Co-op store on Ringwood Road in Poole. It is alleged that an attempt had been made to steal from the ATM.

"A further call was received from Skate Fish and Chip Shop, also on Ringwood Road, reporting that a window had been smashed, entry gained and a charity box stolen.

"Officers attended and discovered that several cars had been damaged between the two locations.

"A search of the area was carried out and two local boys aged 15 and 16 have been arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft and criminal damage.

"Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team have been made aware and will be carrying out patrols in the area and can be approached with any community concerns."
