A Weymouth launderette, which closed last year, could become a lounge for an existing flat on the site in Park Street.

The owner, Mr Peter Vaughan-Evans, has applied to Dorset Council for planning permission to make the change.

His application says the In a Spin launderette was closed in November 2021 and he and his wife, who have now retired, would now like to make use of the 26.4 square metre space as a lounge.

The application says the only external changes would be the removal of two drier vents and making good the area. Mr Vaughan-Williams and claims that the closure of the business will help the area by reducing noise or pollution coming from the machines and reduce the amount of traffic.

Public comments on the proposed change remain open until July 29 with the Dorset Council reference 2022/03900.
