BEACHGOERS should prepare for a higher car parking charges across Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole.

Plans have been approved by BCP Council to increase parking costs at seafront car parks and adjacent on-street areas by approximately 10 per cent per in an attempt to tackle inflation.

Here is what you can expect to pay to park under the new tariffs, which are expected to take 10 weeks to implement:

  • Bournemouth

Westover Gardens Car Park and Pavilion Car Park is set to charge £6.00 for up to two hours of parking, a 60p increase on the existing £5.40 fee.

Hengistbury Head Car Park, Alum Chine Car Park and Durley Chine Car Park will cost you £5.00 for up to two hours, compared to the existing charge of £4.40. Solent Beach Car Park, Overstrand Car Park, Southbourne Crossroads Car Park and Warren Edge Car Park will also fall under these new brackets.

Two hours of parking in Bath Road North Car Park, Bath Road South Car Park or Beacon Road Car Park will now cost £6.00, compared to the existing fee of £5.40.

People arriving to Boscombe Undercliff Car Park before 2pm in high season will face a £15.00 parking charge, a £1.40 increase on the existing fee of £13.60.

  • Christchurch

Two hours at Mudeford Quay Car Park will now cost £3.90, compared to the existing fee of £3.50. Avon Beach Car Park will also see the same 40p increase to parking fees.

Steamer Point is set to charge £2.80 for two hours of parking, a 30p increase on the original £2.50 fee.

Highcliffe Cliff Top Car Park will also be charging the £2.80 fee for two hours of parking.

  • Poole

Parking at Sandbanks Beach is set to cost £4.90 for a two hour stay during high season. This is 50p more than the existing £4.40 charge.

The same charges will apply at Branksome Chine, Shore Road and Western Road.

During high season, Beach Road Car Park will be charging £3.20. This is up from the existing £2.90 fee.
