THE A351 has been reopened after a fire broke out on Furzebrook Heath in Wareham causing disruption to bus and road services.

The A351 to Swanage closed between Wareham and Corfe Castle, at around 3pm this afternoon, it has since been reopened. 

A spokesperson from Morebus said: "As of 16.07 the A351 is now open, please expect delays whilst traffic disperses.

"30/35/40 will now continue normal line of route in both directions. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

At the time of the fire, a spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We’re dealing with a fire at Stoborough and the A351 to Swanage is currently closed.

“The incident is under control so we hope to get the road reopened soon. Apologies for any inconvenience.”

Bus company Morebus released a statement saying to expect ‘major disruption.’

A spokesperson for Morebus said: “Services 30/35/40: Due to fire on Furzebrook Heath the A351 is CLOSED between Wareham and Corfe Castle.

“Due to the nature of the roads in the local area there are no available diversions for buses. Please expect major disruption.”
