OVER 1,000 new coronavirus cases have been recorded across Dorset within the last seven days, according to latest statistics.

The latest Government figures show 1,092 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the county in the last seven days leading up to 4pm on Thursday, June 16.

The rolling seven-day period for the Dorset Council area is 576 cases, with a case rate of 151.7 per 100,000 people.

In the Dorset Council area, 94 new cases were reported in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Monday, June 20.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 108,891 cases confirmed across this area.

The rolling seven-day period for the BCP Council area is 516 cases, with a case rate of 130 per 100,000 people.

In the BCP Council area, 81 new cases were reported in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Monday, June 2.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 136,742 cases confirmed across this area and 245,633 across the whole of Dorset.

Elsewhere, the New Forest area recorded 288 new coronavirus cases in the last seven days with a case rate of 160.3 per 100,000 people.

The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic stands within the New Forest at 51,259.

In the 24 hours leading up to June 20, the New Forest has reported 59 new cases. Across the UK, there have been 11,466 new cases bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 18,961,236.
