A WOMAN sustained an injury to her finger following an assault in Bournemouth town centre.

The victim was walking along Holdenhurst Road between Jefferson Avenue and Maddison Avenue at 7.30am on Tuesday, June 14, when she was assaulted by a man.

It is reported the man, who is known to the victim, took her bag as she managed to leave the area.

Following enquiries, a 51-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of assault and released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Police Constable Emily Dilke, of Bournemouth police, said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed what happened to please come forward.

“I understand the incident may have happened in the road and I am therefore appealing to any motorists who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage to contact Dorset Police.”
