A COSY country pub situated at the heart of the New Forest - The High Corner Inn is Pub of the Week.

The High Corner Inn is a 17th century pub owned by Butcombe Brewing Co, serving locally sourced dishes and pub classics.

Sue, a spokesperson for the pub, said: “We focus quite heavy on traditional food and naturally sourced ingredients.

“The food is exciting, very new, and very fresh. Even quirky.”

Set on a rural road in the New Forest National Park, and only a short distance from the market town of Ringwood, The High Corner Inn is described as ‘the perfect base for exploring’.

Sue said: “If you want to show someone the forest, you want to come to a place like this.

Bournemouth Echo:

“It’s so popular with hikers and families because there are so many walks around here. We also have the bluebell woods and streams nearby.

“It’s nice because you see families coming here and the kids play and explore, not just sit on electronics like they do in a lot of places.”

The premises is also only a short distance from popular Hampshire attractions including Moors Valley Country Park, Beaulieu National Motor Museum and Paulton’s Park.

Many visitors to The High Corner Inn enjoy the presence of wildlife, with horses regularly breaking into the pub garden to provide entertainment.

Sue added: “It’s a natural gathering point for a lot of the horses, donkeys, and pigs. We have all three here.

Bournemouth Echo:

“The horses walk round here and sometimes they come in the garden. We’ve had horses’ tails knock drinks over, but it’s something people talk about and laugh about

“Especially if you come down from London, or you’re a tourist, it’s something you wouldn’t find anywhere else. Stuff like that you can’t manufacture, it happens naturally."

The High Corner Inn is also home to 7 traditionally decorated ensuite rooms, and the entire premises is preparing to undergo a refurbishment later this year.

Sue said: “They’re keeping everything natural. All the things that make it special will be kept.”
