A BRAVE shop owner confronted three masked men as they attempted to break into his store.

The attempted burglary, which was caught on CCTV, happened at Winton Super Store in Wimborne Road, Winton at 2am on Thursday, May 19.

One of the masked raider was carrying a crowbar.

Store owner Metin Guldede was in bed with his wife and heard noises coming from downstairs outside his shop.

He then went downstairs to investigate what was happening.

Metin went round the corner to the back entrance of his shop to find one man hiding behind a bin and two others hiding in his storage room.

Metin approached the men without hesitation. He told the Daily Echo: “They threw a lock from the door at my head but luckily it missed me, or it would've have done some damage.

“All three men were wearing masks and gloves and I think one had a crowbar.

“I wasn’t scared when I went down to confront them; I just wanted to make sure my wife was OK and safe. Now I am worried they will come back.”

The three men, who repeatedly swore at Metin, then made off in an old burgundy Audi A4 after breaking down the shop’s doors. No stock was taken during the incident.

Metin now wants the people to be caught and for residents and other shop owners to be aware of possible break-ins.

He added: “It’s an awful situation and people need to be made aware of what’s going on.

“I’ve owned this shop for three years and I’ve never had this happen to me. I’ve lived in Bournemouth for 20 years and have never had any trouble.

“People should take extra safety precautions to make sure their families are safe, because who knows what they will do next.”

Police are currently investigating the attempted burglary.
