RINGWOOD School is set to reopen today after an unauthorised traveller encampment caused a security breach.
Representatives from the secondary school and sixth form confirmed the site would reopen on Wednesday, May 25, after at least nine caravans with accompanying vehicles pitched up at the adjacent Carvers Recreation Ground on Monday evening.
Most students worked remotely on Tuesday (May 24) while police and council officials began their enquiries. The school did, however, remain open for scheduled Year 11 and Year 13 exams.
A school spokesperson said: “We have had time to put plans in place and work alongside other agencies so that we can be fully open as usual tomorrow.”

The encampment also forced the closure of Carvers Clubhouse, which Ringwood Town Council say will remain closed “until further notice”.
According to Hampshire Constabulary, the group arrived on Monday, May 23, just before 8pm and were seen by several residents in Parsonage Barn Lane just outside the school entrance.
On June 5, Carvers is scheduled to host the town’s Party in the Park event to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
