A family-friendly pub claiming to serve the best roast dinners in the area- The Monmouth Ash is Pub of the Week.

Situated in Verwood, The Monmouth Ash is a classic English pub at the heart of the community.

The pub is steeped in history, with its name marking the capture of the Duke of Monmouth in 1685, which is said to have followed the discovery of his clothes found below an ash tree.

It has maintained many of its original features, with visitors able to appreciate its traditional oak beans and open fires.

The Monmouth Ash is owned by Hall and Woodhouse, but it is Greg Cox who has managed the premises for the last five years.

Bournemouth Echo:

He was quick to describe the pub as one with community focus.

He said: “We’re very local based. Lots of people from Verwood come here so we see the same people week in week out.

“Some come in each and every day of the week.

“All the people working here come from Verwood and they’re just an incredible team.”

The pub offers an extensive menu of pub classics, including burgers, pies, and steaks, as well as vegan and vegetarian options. A specials menu is also available and is regularly updated with new and exciting dishes.

A particularly popular serving at The Monmouth Ash is the Sunday roast. Visitors can even ring up the pub in advance to reserve their roasts and avoid any disappointment.

The pub also runs a Thursday burger night, a Wednesday pie night, and a fizz Friday, offering prosecco at a discounted price.

Greg was able to reveal exciting plans for summer at The Monmouth Ash.

He said: “We are starting to do live music every Friday night. From the 10th June it will be every week.

“We’re building a summer of sound with the music to end with a concert in the car park.”
