A MAN has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash in Bournemouth on Friday night.

The motorcyclist, a local man in his 50s, has been taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment following the crash in Richmond Park Road at around 11.30pm.

It involved a red Vauxhall Astra and a red Thunderbird Triumph motorcycle.

The driver of the Astra, a local 59-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences.

Richmond Park Road was closed while emergency services treated the injured rider and carried out an examination of the scene.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage to contact them.

Sergeant Lee Savage, of the traffic unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw the Astra or Triumph immediately prior to the incident, and has not yet spoken to officers to please contact Dorset Police.

“I would also urge anyone who may have captured the incident on home CCTV or dashcam to please get in touch.”
