WHAT could be more quintessentially British than afternoon tea?

With the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee being celebrated next month, a host of special afternoon teas are taking place across the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area and beyond.

If you’re keen to celebrate with tea and cake, here are a few of the events to book.

Poole

The RNLI College is hosting an afternoon tea on the terrace.

People will be able to enjoy cake and sandwiches while enjoying views over Holes Bay.

The jubilee afternoon teas are available between 2.30pm and 5pm.

Enjoy an afternoon tea on the high seas with City Cruises. The 90-minute cruise will take place on June 2, 3, 4 and 5 with depatures at 1.30pm and 4pm. 

People will get a glass of Pimm’s upon boarding and in between commentary from the captain, you will be able to sit back and relax to a 'Best of British' music list.           

Bournemouth

Dot.Teas Vintage Tea Boutique in Westbourne will be serving jubilee afternoon teas.

Posting on its Facebook page, Dot.Teas said: "We will be open all weekend including the Sunday for this truly momentous occasion.

"We have already started taking bookings and as it is expected to be busy we are taking bookings for the tea rooms and of course delivery and collection."

The afternoon tea costs £17.50 each and features egg mayonnaise, cream cheese and cucumber, cheese and coriander and coronation chicken sandwiches, plus French Madeleine dipped in white chocolate, Victoria sponge and scones. 

The Miramar Hotel will be serving a "traditional afternoon tea by the sea" on Sunday, June 5, between 3pm and 5pm.

Diners will be accompanied by the vintage sounds of Susie Kimber.

The Green House hotel is hosting a "festive themed, typically British afternoon tea" to mark the jubilee between Thursday, June 2 and Sunday, June 5.

It will be accompanied by a spring cocktail or mocktail, costs £32.50pp with sparkling cocktail and £28.50pp with a mocktail.

The Cliff House Hotel in Southbourne is holding a bottomless afternoon tea on June 2, 3 and 4 between 12pm and 5pm. Diners will be able to enjoy unlimited prosecco, tea, coffee, sandwiches, scones and cakes. Costs £30 and slots last 90 minutes. Call 01202 424701 to book. 

Christchurch

The Captain's Club hotel will be serving a jubilee afternoon tea on June 2, 3 and 4. 

Visitors will be able to enjoy a full afternoon tea with a glass of sparkling wine and live entertainment from the hotel's resident harpist.
