Dorset Police has appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.

Police Constable Mal Dye, of Dorset Police, said: “This incident took place over the early May Bank Holiday weekend and I know there were a number of families and young children on the campsite at the time.

“Thankfully the fire was extinguished before it spread to the fuel tank, and potentially averted a dangerous explosion.

“I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident to please contact Dorset Police as they may have important information that could assist my investigation.”
