Great photo of members of the Poole Harbour Canoe Club in 1959 at Hamworthy beach just a few years after the club was founded in 1956 by a few friends who shared a love for paddling.
Over the years the club moved location with the first premises being an old chicken shed which was erected in 1962.
In the 1980s the club was located opposite ‘Fisherman’s Dock’ on Poole Quay but since 1990 the much-loved club was relocated to Lake Pier in Hamworthy.
The canoeing enthusiasts now have a wonderful clubhouse which was built in 2016. Sent in by Mr Eric Marsh.
