IT was pointed out to me a few days ago that parking charges are to be introduced to council owned parking sites in Verwood.
I have since read about the proposal in the Viewpont magazine. I am incensed.
In the 31 years I’ve been living and working in Verwood, I have not been aware of any noticeable parking issues in the town.
Introducing charges to an area without a parking issue suggests a money grabbing exercise, nothing short.
I am appalled at the decision and disgusted that such an action is even being discussed, let alone implemented.
In addition, the audacity to levy charges on a Sunday as well. This stinks!
It will clearly affect the town’s trading and, at a time of increasing strain on the cost of living, bite in to residents’ spending power.
Pensioners and physically infirm residents making short visits to medical centres, pharmacies and dentists will be most affected.
I, for one, am totally against such a move.
I am also sure that a large proportion of local people would be against such a tax on the town of Verwood.
