A CAR collided with a telegraph pole on a rural route in Dorset on Friday morning. 

Drivers were urged to avoid the area following the crash on the B3078 near the Horton Inn at around 8.30am. 

A woman was taken to hospital for injuries that are not believed to be serious.

Dorset Police said: "We were called at 8.29am to a report of a single vehicle collision on Cranborne Road near the Horton Inn.

"It was reported that a car had collided with a telegraph pole.

"Officers have attended along with the fire and ambulance services and road closures have been put in place."

The spokesperson added: "The woman who was being treated by the ambulance service is being taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not believed to be serious.

"Recovery is being arranged and officers remain at the scene."

Dorset Police traffic officers at the scene: "We’re out dealing with a collision on the B3078 near the Horton Inn.

"The road is completely obstructed and will be while we get recovery sorted.

"Please use other routes if you can."

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 8.35am today we were called to an RTC on the B3078 Cranborne Road, Horton. 

"Crews from Cranborne and Verwood were mobilised to the incident and on arrival found a single vehicle on its roof with one person trapped. 

"Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the casualty from the vehicle and handed over to paramedics. 

"The stop came back at 9.57am and crews remained on scene until 10.40am."

The road reopened shortly after 12pm.
