DOZENS of dogs dashed down to Bobby’s in Bournemouth over the bank holiday for a day of fun and treats.

The department store hosted its first Dog’s Day Out event on Saturday, April 30, in which more than 50 owners congregated on the second floor during the course of the day.

Pooches of all breeds were able to meet while trying out features like tunnels and various toys.

Holly Nicholson of Bobby’s told the Echo: “We became aware that Bournemouth didn’t really have something like this so we thought we’d bring it here.

“We were standing nervously before we opened for the day but ended up opening early because people were queuing up outside. I feel like dog owners in Bournemouth know each other and would love to come to more events like this.”

She added the event would be held again in the near future.

Residents Tanya and George attended the event with their four-legged friend Poppy. Tanya said: “We saw this advertised on Facebook and thought we’d give it a go. We’ve really enjoyed it and Poppy’s now got a new bow to wear and she looks great in it.

George added: “It’s just great for the dogs to socialise and this is the first time we’ve been to an event like this.”
