A CLASSIC and cosy pub getting prepared for the Highcliffe Food Festival- The Globe Inn is our Pub of the Week.
The Globe Inn is a family-friendly pub located in Highcliffe and is one of only 12 Whitbread Inns across the country.
Its history dates to the late 1880s, when it began as a small wayside tavern at the heart of the community, a starting point for many horses and carriages travelling to Lymington and surrounding areas.
Although The Globe Inn has changed throughout the years, it has kept its Victorian architecture and rustic feel. General manager James O’Donnel said: “I really like the branding.
“The décor is all focused around the local area and the history of Whitbread.”
The Globe Inn serves a delicious menu of pub classics, including burgers, grills, and home comforts. James said: “The whole idea of our menu is that it creates that home away from home feeling.
“The most popular dish is probably our haddock and chips. We get a massive amount of compliments on it and a lot of people have said they’d recommend our fish and chips over a lot of fish and chip shops around.”

As well as a main menu packed with traditional dishes, visitors can enjoy sandwiches and snacks from the bar menu, vegan or vegetarian options from the ‘meatless meals’ menu, or a tasty roast from the set Sunday menu, with unlimited Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and gravy.
The Globe Inn has a happy hour too, with £5 cocktails available every day between 5pm and 7pm.
But it is not just the food and drinks that make the pub so great, it also boasts an exciting series of events throughout the year. James said: “We do a fortnightly quiz. The next one is Tuesday May 10. It starts at 8.30pm.

“As the weather improves, we’re looking at doing some live music in the pub garden on a Sunday. We’ve got a marque which we can use for that.”
The Globe Inn will also be celebrating the Highcliffe Food and Arts Festival due to take place on June 11 and 12, with plans to serve takeaway food and drink from an external bar. More information will be available on the pub's Facebook page closer to the event.
