THE A338 Spur Road could be closed for up to seven nights with essential maintenance works planned.
On Sunday, May 8, all vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along the A338 from the Ashley Heath roundabout to the Blackwater junction from 9pm to 5am.
The closure is needed to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.
Cleaning a distance of approximately 8,425 metres, work will include gully cleansing, litter picking, safety fence inspections and removal of overgrown vegetation on both north and southbound carriageways.

The seven-night closure provision has been described as a “window of opportunity” and the road may not be closed for the whole duration – with Dorset Council anticipating all the works will be completed by May 13.
This, however, is weather dependant and a locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed section during this time.
The carriageway works are being undertaken by Dorset Council in partnership with BCP Council.
