A MAN who failed to identify the driver of a vehicle when required by police has been disqualified for several months.

Iulian George Vacarelu, aged 31 and of Farnham Road, Poole, was accused to have failed to give information after November 4 last year relating to the driver of a Ford vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence in south Wales.

Failing to provide the details in such circumstances can be an offence under the Road Traffic Act 1988.

The case against Vacaerlu was dealt with through the single justice procedure at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court.

A lone magistrate sitting behind closed doors on April 20 issued a £660 fine along with orders to pay a £66 surcharge and £90 costs.

This was after the offence had been proved against the defendant last month.

Vacarelu was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months.
