A WEYMOUTH man has appeared in court in Liverpool accused of invading a football pitch and trespassing during a Premier League match.

Louis McKechnie, who gave his address as no fixed abode, appeared at South Sefton Magistrates Court today to plead not guilty to the charges of going onto a playing area at a football match and trespassing.

The 21-year-old is accused of invading a football pitch and tying himself to a goal post at Goodison Park stadium, the home of Everton FC in Liverpool, on Thursday, March 17.

Merseyside Police said at around 8.55pm on March 17, it was reported that a man disrupted the Everton v Newcastle United Premier League fixture by running on to the pitch and tying himself to the goal post at the Howard Kendall Gwladys Street End.

McKechnie is to appear again at South Sefton Magistrates Court for a trial on June 7, 2022.

He is on conditional bail and is banned from attending any venue being used for a regulated football match in England and Wales, any sporting venues being used for a televised event in England and Wales and any venues being used for a televised event in England and Wales.
