What really helps is tonight starts with a set from K T Tunstall who is a superb headliner in her own right and obviously a firm favourite support act for many of the arena rock bands that tour the UK.

True to form she delivers a variety of songs that prove once again that her songwriting, musicianship and vocal talent are superb.

She engages with the crowd and really warms them up for the main act. In fact the person I went to the gig with was really just going to see K T Tunstall.

Luckily for him he stayed for the Stereophonics and got to see one of the best live bands around at the moment.

Opening with Do Ya Feel My Love, Kelly then strode along the ramp to perform C’est La Vie and I Wanna Get Lost With You right in the middle of the crowd before returning to the main stage for a set that included classics such as Maybe Tomorrow, Geronimo and Graffiti on the Train.

The sound was perfect as was the amazing light show and the four screens along the back of the stage.

There were a number of highlights including a fantastic rendition of All I Have Is You that built to a real crescendo and was followed by the more sedate Leave the Light On lit by a thousand phones on the crowd.

Kelly has a real rock voice that is still as powerful now as it was all those years ago when they started out. He can belt out classic tunes and also put real feeling into soulful ballads.

The band returned to the smaller stage and delivered a rocking A Thousand Trees followed by a wonderful solo acoustic version of Billy Davey's Daughter.

They then returned to the main stage for the main set finale of Have A Nice Day, Handbags and Gladrags and set closer The Bartender and the Thief.

A short break and it was back for a short encore ending with Dakota, a classic that no Stereophonics gig would be complete without.

This was a classic rock show delivered by a band that have proved over and over again that there are few if any better in the business.
