POLICE carried out a crackdown on illegal car parking outside schools in Christchurch following a series of complaints.
Officers carried out patrols outside Christchurch Junior and Christchurch Infants school on Thursday, March 24.
The neighbourhood policing team spoke with many people about their parking and issued one motorist with a ticket.
A spokesperson for Christchurch Police said the visible presence had been made after complaints of “dangerous and obstructive parking” in the Clarendon Road area.
“We understand that it can be difficult for parents to park when collecting children, but it is important that the roads and pavements remain unobstructed to allow the safe passage of the public and emergency vehicles,” the spokesperson said.
“On this occasion a number of individuals were given words of advice regarding their parking and one was issued a ticket after having been found to have returned to their position shortly after they were moved on.”
