A 12 year old boy was robbed after being pulled into a subway on Columbia Road in Bournemouth, by two boys, one of whom had a knife.

Dorset Police received a report at 4.14pm on Wednesday, March 16 of a robbery in Columbia Road.

It is alleged that two boys approached a 12-year-old local boy and pulled him into a nearby subway.

The two boys are known to the victim and it is reported that one of them was in possession of a knife.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Following enquiries, a 14-year-old boy from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of robbery.”

Detective Inspector Jon Sainsbury, of Bournemouth CID, said: “An investigation is underway into the incident and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened to please get in touch.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who may have captured anything of relevance on home CCTV or dashcam footage.”

In an email to parents, vice principal Richard Coe at Glenmoor and Winton Academies, said: “I would like to update you all on two concerning incidents that have happened in the local area after school this week.

“Two of our students have been targeted by one or more teenage/older males in black clothes and either a black mask or balaclava.

“Students have been alone on both occasions and it has been a harrowing experience. We believe that on both occasions, our students have been threatened with a knife and have had their bags taken from them.

“On at least one occasion one of the perpetrators was using a ‘Beryl Scooter.’ We would like to praise the local and school community for supporting our students on each occasion.

“Obviously this is very concerning and the police are fully involved. There will be a heightened staff and police presence around Boundary Road, Talbot Woods and Redhill Park/subway.

“All students are being talked to by their Head of Year at line ups about safely travelling to and from school but please can you reiterate the following to your child:

“Wherever possible walk with at least one other to and from school.

“Wherever possible, stick to main routes that are highly populated.

“Wear something bright.

“Inform school, police or yourselves if they see anything that relates to the above.

“Do not challenge anyone fitting this description - steer clear and phone you, the school or the police.”

Dorset Police said the two incidents are not being treated as linked at this time.
