PLANS have been revealed for a new community leisure facility in Kings Park, intended to "improve the skills, health and wellbeing" of residents.

Kings Park Bowling Centre has been purchased by BCP Council, with cash provided by the Bournemouth Towns Fund.

The centre will continue to host skills and learning adult community education on the first floor and the bowling club on the ground floor, with a range of community fitness, health and wellbeing activities and programmes being planned for the future.

Councillor Phil Broadhead, deputy leader of BCP Council and portfolio holder for development, growth and regeneration said the council will continue working with the bowling club about its current service.

He said: “This is another example of regeneration in action in Boscombe – which is not just about fancy new buildings, but people and community too.

"This new offer will provide local residents a host of learning and wellbeing opportunities in the heart of Kings Park, which all ties into our bigger programme of Boscombe rejuvenation.

“Furthermore, we are committed to working closely with the bowling club about their current provision and how the leisure facilities will be shaped in the future.

“The towns fund has given us a huge cash injection to invest in Boscombe and the surrounding areas. We’ve exciting plans ahead, as we look to provide the community with life enhancing opportunities and greater access to good quality jobs, training, leisure activities and homes.”
