A POPULAR pier will remain closed until funding is sought and works can be completed - though a date is yet to be set, confirms BCP Council.

The pier at Lake Pier in Poole has been closed since November due to emergency works being required at the end of the walkway.

The inner harbour pier is a popular spot with families and photographers alike but due concerns over public safety it will have to remain closed until works can be completed.

A BCP Council spokesperson said: “The pier has not been closed completely, emergency works have been required to close off the two walkways at the end of the pier, access does remain to the main body of the pier. The closure of the walkways is because the structure is ageing and some of the timbers need replacement.

“In the interests of public safety the two walkways were closed off in November and will remain closed while the specific works are identified and funding is sought. There is not a date for completion of this work at this time.

“These closures are very minor in their scope and impact on the recreational use of the pier. While we appreciate the public would like all of the pier open, the two walkways will stay closed until repairs can be made.”
