A DELIVERY driver has had his car seized by traffic officers in north Dorset.

On Saturday evening, police stopped 'numerous vehicles' for speeding around the Sherborne, Yetminster and Thornford area - with some motorists failing to produce insurance.

The offences included one motorist behind the wheel of a red Audi, who was clocked travelling at 106mph along Babylon Hill near Sherborne - a route which has a speed limit of 70.

A spokesman from Dorset Police said: "We were up and around Sherborne, Yetminster and Thornford on Saturday evening.

"We stopped numerous vehicles for speeding and a few others without insurance.

"Most notably was a red Audi which we stopped for doing 106mph on Babylon Hill. The driver failed a roadside breath test and was arrested. Fortunately for the driver, they blew 31mcg (legal limit is 35mcg in England) in custody so they were released without charge. However, the driver was reported to court for the speeding offence.

"A delivery driver had no insurance since November 21, and he could not produce his foreign driving licence either.

"So he was reported to court and his vehicle seized."
