A SMALL business set up during the pandemic to take care of people’s printing and design needs has got off to a strong start.

Boombox Print House in Poole can supply anything from business cards to tote bags.

It was started during the pandemic by Nathan Shaw.

“I studied fashion design and photography and was working with number of diverse creative businesses,” he said.

“Then, due to Covid I found myself, at the start of the pandemic, with a bit of time and not a lot of work as most people did.”

The experience of being furloughed enabled him to turn his mind to creating his own printing business.

“I was always saying I don’t want to be one of those people who was given all this time and did nothing with it,” he said.

“I wanted to create a business and have something productive. I used my time and put it towards creating something productive and something beneficial for my community.”

The business makes workwear and apparel including polo shirts, T-shirts, zip-up and pullover hoodies, hi-vis vests, softshell jackets, face masks, baseball caps, snapback hats, beanies and tote bags.

It can apply company branding to business cards, mugs, stickers, compliments slips, booklets, window decals, outside signs, car and van decals, tote bags and key rings.

If customers don’t have a ready-made design to work with, the business go through the whole design process with them, from the initial concept to finished products.

The business aims to put the customer at the centre of everything it does.

“We’re able to help a brand from establishing their initial logo right through to printing and getting it realised and setting up all their marketing for them,” says Nathan.

Customers can place orders or ask for quotations online or can visit the premises in Poole by appointment.

Orders can be dispatched by post or collected from the premises.

While the business was started in difficult times, demand has picked up, Nathan says – and the service has gone down well with customers.

“We’re a small, independent business, supporting our community,” he says.
