A LARGE section of the A31 eastbound will be closed overnight ahead of a series of closures before the installation of a contraflow.

The A31 eastbound from Ashley Heath to junction one of the M27 will close from 8pm tonight (Sunday) through to 6am on Monday morning. This closure will repeat on Monday night through to Tuesday morning.

National Highways also confirmed the same overnight closure would take place on the A31 westbound from the M27 to Ashley Heath on Tuesday, January 25.

These closures will culminate with the installation of the Ringwood contraflow, which will be in effect from 6am on Wednesday, January 26 and is expected to last throughout the rest of the road works until November.

This means a full closure of the A31 westbound between Ringwood and Verwood during this time. The contraflow will be in place allowing two lanes westbound and two lanes eastbound to use one side of the A31.
