IT’S the family run micropub which has featured over 2,000 different beers from around the world.

The Hourglass Micropub in New Milton has 11 beers and at least 15 ciders on at a time, sourced worldwide, and has appeared in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for the past three years.

There is constant rotation and support for a host of local breweries.

Co-owner Stuart Plummer said: "What makes us so special is the range of beer and cider we sell as a freehouse.

"We also have a strong sense of community, organising day trips, book swaps and charity events.

"It was a new model to the town, offering primarily craft beer and cider which is not available in the other pubs.

"It was honestly a gamble as to how well received this would be, but I’m happy to say it has since thrived and we are very fortunate to have a large and supportive customer base who are passionate about the quality of beer we serve."

The Hourglass opened in December 2017 as a conversion from the former shop Total Entertainment.

As a family business, the conversion work was primarily completed by Stuart, his sister Leah Priestley, brother in law Jake Priestley and a business partner who is no longer involved.

Stuart added: "Both myself and Jake work full time elsewhere, and the process of turning a shell of a building into a pub was done purely on weekends and evenings. To have achieved the reality of a functioning micropub was hugely satisfying.

"We are indebted to our fantastic staff, particularly our bar manager Steve Lucas. He embodies the pub to a great extent and it’s no exaggeration to say we would struggle to operate without his efforts and expertise."

Myners Cider is the only drink constantly on the menu and regular breweries include Cerne Abbas, Vibrant Forest and Sixpenny.

Customers often enjoy takeaways on the premises and love the regular music jams, quizzes and curry nights. Day out events have included various brewery tours.
