A BOURNEMOUTH nursery has been praised in its first Ofsted report for its commitment to providing children with “a variety of experiences”.

Charlotte’s Web Pre-school Nursery in St Alban’s Church Hall, Bournemouth, received a ‘Good’ rating from the education regulator in its first report since opening in 2019.

During an inspection in December, it was found that children are “content” at the nursery and arrive “happy” and “keen to start their day”.

Following the pandemic, the owner, who is also the manager, identified that not all children have access to a garden at home. The inspector found the manager ensures children enjoy spending long periods in an outdoor area, where they have opportunities to be creative and take charge.

Exercise activities were praised for aiding the children’s physical development and creative tasks such as building a ten-tier birthday cake out of playdough was said to have made the children “beam with great pride”.

The report stated just one target for the nursery to improve on ahead of the next visit. This was to “develop staff's knowledge of the curriculum intentions, so that all activities for children have a clear focus”.

There are eight members of childcare staff, including the owner, who look after 50 children overall.
