A BOURNEMOUTH tattooist died in Mexico after being hit by a vehicle involved in roadworks.
Dorset Police has been asked to investigate after Bethany Marie Eaton, 27, died three days after Christmas while in Puerto Morales.
Her inquest opened at Bournemouth Town Hall on Monday, January 17.
Coroner’s officer Nigel Underwood told the hearing on December 28, 2021, Ms Eaton was a passenger on a motorbike.
Due to roadworks, the motorcycle had to stop and wait in a queue of traffic. While stationary, Ms Eaton was struck by one of the vehicles involved in the road works.
Ms Eaton received injuries and did not survive, the inquest heard.
A post mortem revealed the cause of death of severe traumatic brain injury and thoracic abdominal trauma.
Senior coroner for Dorset, Rachael Griffin, requested Dorset Police review the circumstances, given the force’s “expertise in road traffic collisions”.
The inquest was adjourned for a full hearing to be held later this year.
A GoFundMe page has been set up since Ms Eaton's death to help finance her funeral and bring her home.
At the time of writing, the organiser's had raised nearly £18,000.
