A NEW bakery is coming to town with a “pub vibe” and a focus on serving the community quality local products.

Big Wigs Bakery opening a little more than a year ago in Tuckton in memory of a friend of owners Tom Bew and Dominic Brown.

They have since held fundraisers for the mental health charity CALM and are now preparing to open a new store in Westbourne.

Tom told the Daily Echo: “We are both chefs by trade and we were looking for another site when one in Westbourne popped up.

“We are now going ahead with it, Westbourne is a great area to be in, they’ve got good footfall and hopefully we’ll be a good addition to Westbourne.

“We do a lot of hot food, sourdough pizzas and we’re constantly changing.”

Tom said, despite Covid restrictions, they had managed to have a successful year.

He said the new store would hopefully be opening in six weeks time.

“We will do a full fit in that time,” he added. “We want it to look like our Tuckton store so loads of burnt wood.

“We’ll also have tables and chairs so it’s more of a café culture which we don’t have the space for in Tuckton.

“We are buzzing. We are quite lucky to have had a good year and we worked our nuts off so we feel we deserved to have a good year.

“It is an exciting time opening up another shop a year after opening our first.

“I think we eventually want four stores in total. For us it’s not money driven, it’s about giving people good quality that other people can’t bring to the community.

“It’s all about supplying fantastic products, obviously make a little bit of money along the way, we’re really excited to open this one.”

Tom added they wanted to open another store in Mudeford and had plans moving for a store in Bournemouth.

He said the bakery offers a pub vibe, with both owners from that background, and caters for all ages.

The new bakery will open in Poole Road in around six weeks.
