A POOLE man has been hit with a court bill of more than £400 for littering a cigarette butt.
Peter Bolton, aged 31, was alleged to have thrown down, dropped or otherwise deposited the object in Station Road, Havant, and left it there.
He was prosecuted by Havant Borough Council in relation to the reported incident on July 29, 2021.
The case against Bolton, whose address was given as Benjamin Road, Poole, was proved at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, January 11.
A lone magistrate dealt with the case under the single justice procedure, with the defendant not present at court for the behind closed doors hearing.
Bolton was fined £220 and ordered to pay £34 surcharge and £155 costs.
