A fire at a house in the early hours which was quickly dealt with demonstrates why it is so important to have smoke alarms fitted, the brigade said.
Shaftesbury firefighters responded to an emergency call reporting a domestic property fire in the village of Stour Row, north Dorset at just after 1.15am today.
A spokesman for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "On arrival the fire had gone out. The electrics were isolated and the crew carried out an inspection.
"This highlights why it is so important to have working smoke alarms.
