THE world’s 'top 10 most beautiful places in the world' have been revealed - and Dorset's Jurassic Coast has made the list.

Travel experts conducted a study using eye-tracking technology to reveal which destinations around the world grab people’s attention the most.

Travel company, Kuoni, asked participants to look at a series of pictures of 50 of the world’s most recognised places so they could track their eye movements using AI technology. The data shows which images kept the eye for the longest time which determined which natural landmarks are most visually appealing.

The Jurassic Coast – which is a World Heritage Site and stretches from east Devon to Dorset - was named third place for most beautiful destination globally. Meeru Island in the Maldives came in second place and Peyto Lake in Canada came first.

The Jurassic Coast stretches for 95 miles - starting at Orcombe Point in Exmouth, Devon and ending at Old Harry Rocks near Swanage. It was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001 for the outstanding value of its rocks, fossils and landforms and is currently England’s only natural World Heritage Site.
